Small Groups are the best way to get to know people better and have some fun! In the past, many people have experienced great growth through exploring truth, especially the Truth, with peers and mentors in these groups. We strongly encourage everyone to try them out. If you don’t like one, you are absolutely free to try each one until you find the one that fits.
Small groups meet at the Wesley House (1904 Guadalupe St.) unless otherwise mentioned.
Great bible adventure
Mondays 7-9 PM at the Wesley House
Have you ever attempted to read through the Bible and got lost somewhere in Leviticus? Do you have a desire to know and understand what the Bible has to say and its relevance for today’s world? This group is perfect for you! As a group we’ll be working through the Bible in a year, encouraging one another, praying for one another, and having an altogether fantastic time. Reading the Bible individually through the week (20-30 minutes per day) sets us all up for great discussion, fellowship, and prayer at our weekly meetings. No previous reading or knowledge of the Bible is necessary. Whether you’ve yet to venture out on a walk of faith or you’re wondering where to go next, Genesis is a great place to start.
Alpha is a non-pressure, information and discussion group about the basics of Christianity. Do you have doubts, hesitations, or concerns about the Christian faith? Is it boring, irrelevant, or untrue? We will discuss these and other questions such as: Who is Jesus? Why did he have to die? How and why do I read the Bible? If you want to re-kindle and strengthen your faith, are just curious as to what Jesus is all about, or have outright objections to this faith…no problem! Just swing by the Wesley house Tuesday nights for free food and great discussions!
social justice initiative
Sundays 7:00 pm
If you have a passion for social justice issues and/or a desire to learn more about such issues, Social Justice Initiative may be a great group for you. We strive to create an open and respectful environment in which we can discuss many issues facing our nation and our world today, and ask the question, what is our call as Christians in the face of such injustices? All are welcome to join.
fast food friday
Fridays at 11:30 am
We will have group discussion that goes more in-depth with the message from the night before at Overflow. This semester will do an inductive study on the book of Romans. Bring some fast food to join us for lunch, reflection on Overflow, and studying Romans together.
These are groups for anyone (suggested sophomore and up) who want to challenge each other to go deeper in their discipleship of Christ. Join us if you have a strong desire to learn and are ready to commit the time and energy it takes to put God first. You will experience growing deeper in Christ through study, prayer, accountability, and learning how to be a in ministry and service to others.
Each groups meets for 2 hours and includes daily readings and weekly challenges. Attendance is required.
